Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Foster City Tennis Club has compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions. If you have any questions that you feel might be useful to include, please send them to the lychang8@yahoo.com.

What courts do you use for club events?

  • For major tennis events, the club uses many Foster City locations, but all players should check-in at the Edgewater Courts which are located on Edgewater Boulevard in Foster City. For directions to all Foster City court locations, please click here.

  • For Fun Days, the club uses the Edgewater Courts located on Edgewater Blvd. in Foster City.

How do I get involved?
Once you become a member, you will receive a roster of all of the members of the Foster City Tennis Club. The members are listed with their NTRP rating (the rating assigned by the USTA). Call members that are of the same rating as yourself (definitions of each level are listed on the USTA Norcal site), and tell them you are a new member and ask to set up a game.

Check the Calendar of Events listed on the web site and be sure to come out and join the other members of the club on the drop-in days. It's a great way to meet other tennis players and have fun.

You are also welcome to volunteer and get involved with the tennis community. The Shell Courts on Shell Blvd is often a good place to drop in to pick up a tennis game; weekday evenings and weekend mornings.

You may also want to check the USTA League link on our website.

Where can I find tennis instruction?
Foster City has a local tennis sports shop, Zalles Racquet Sports. I would start with them. If they can't help you, they may be able to give you some recommendations.

I am a rank beginner. Will I be able to pick up a game?
USTA supports every level of play, from beginner to open players. Tennis is for everyone who wants to play. Our fun days and tournaments accommodate all levels.

You may also want to contact one of the league team captains to see if you can practice with their teams. That would be a good place to pick up some games.

Do you have any junior programs?
Not at this time. We suggest you contact Zalles Racquet Sports who does conduct junior programs during the summer.
